SPRI, DIN& ISO – BRIEF DESCRIPTIONS

SPRI – The Swedish Healthcare Planning and Efficiency Institute

This Swedish healthcare standard was established in the 1960s. SPRI baskets exist in two sizes, high and low. The former is 585 x 395 x 195 mm (L x W x H) and the latter 585 x 395 x 100mm. These dimensions are close to the ones specified by the ISO standard (see below), but products such as wire baskets from the two standards do not fit together.
DIN – Deutsche Industri Norm

In the common European standards for small and large sterilizers or washer-disinfectors, capacity is expressed in terms of the number of sterilizing units (STU) the sterilizer or washer-disinfector can hold. STU dimensions are specified as a maximum of 600x300x300 mm (L x W x H), which covers the sizes in the widely accepted German standard DIN. The full (1/1) DIN module is 575x280x265 mm (L x W x H), and the 1/2 module is 575x280x135 mm.
ISO – International Standardization Organization

The ISO standard also defines goods carriers used for distribution of sterile supply. In this standard, the sizes are 600x400x200 mm (L x W x H) and 600x400x100 mm. This is the equivalent of 1/4 of the standard European pallet size 1200 x 800 mm.
